Buying, selling & fighting fit: A real snapshot of South West Sydney’s resilient market

As we slowly surface from our lockdown hideouts in a tentative post-virus world, more and more homeseekers are keeping a watchful eye over the property market for the green light to move.

It’s little wonder why, with buyer and seller confidence taking a hefty blow amid months of tough restrictions, job uncertainty and coronavirus taking a nasty hold on life as we knew it.

But while the doomsday reports continue to sound the alarm for a Sydney property crash, the reality is that in our local South Western Sydney market, the sun is shining and the forecast is bright.

Recent weeks have shown us that vendor confidence is making a return, and the market has entered a promising new space and recovery phase.

For one, May 2020 showed Prudential Real Estate Liverpool its single highest listing and sale month, with homeowners returning to the market in droves and indicating lots more activity to come.

“With so much media speculation, nobody really knows where the market is going,” says Simon Perri, Director of Prudential Real Estate Liverpool.

“But from what we’ve seen, buyers and sellers simply want to return back to normality.”

From last month’s activity, Simon points out that buyers are reconnecting with the market, and sellers are appreciating – and benefiting from – its unpredictable nature.

In many ways, this is the new normal; acclimatising to change and going with the flow.

While the Sydney property bubble has borne the brunt of numerous economic shocks and social changes over the past few years, if there’s one thing that the coronavirus pandemic has demonstrated at Prudential Real Estate, it’s how our access to advanced technology can allow us to immediately respond and adapt to drastic change.

It’s a capability that we didn’t have decades ago, but which has established our leading edge in the market today – allowing us to innovate and service our local community better than ever before.
